Old habits are not the best option.

If you’re tired of walking down the same street and falling into the same hole, deciding to call a therapist for help is an excellent step in a new direction.

Sometimes, even when you know that street leads to a big hole (heartbreak, disappointment, pain), you cannot seem to help yourself – you go there anyway!

The good news is there’s nothing wrong with you for doing that. It’s human nature to do what’s familiar even when you know it won’t lead to what you want.

What’s familiar can create a rut – a rut can be very comfortable!

Going out on a limb to experience something unfamiliar, the unknown, is scary. So, avoidance became your habit. More good news – it is possible to break old habits. With help!

Time to change your habits.

You’ve come here looking to make a change because something isn’t working. Denial of problems and suppression of emotions no longer works.

Change and growth are paradoxical. By paying attention to what is true and what is occurring in your life, shifts occur. Change happens in the moment – not by living in the past or worrying about the future.

Therapy helps break old habits and create a better life.

The therapeutic process is experiential.

During our sessions, I will help you find your courage, face your fears, and feel hopeful about your life and the direction you are going again.

I’ll invite you to slow down and take your time.

Mindfulness is one practice we incorporate so that concepts and “good ideas” become lived experiences you carry with you out the door.

Navigate toward a new, rewarding life.

As we work together and you learn how to navigate unfamiliar territory, I’ll help you create a new map or remind you where the breadcrumbs are.

Seeing you, hearing you, and understanding you are my “goals.” Most people find it hugely relieving to be seen and heard and paid attention to in a way that isn’t trying to fix, judge, or manipulate you.

It can also be uncomfortable because it’s unfamiliar. It might seem strange to you that getting what you want also feels “bad.” For me, it’s more information about which to be curious, information that gives direction and provides more details to the map we’re creating.

Experience a change of habit.

My invitation to you is to bring a sense of curiosity, openness, and compassion toward yourself and your process.

Therapy isn’t about you working harder. It’s not a self-improvement project.

As many of my clients are, it might surprise you that the “answer” or what turns out to be most helpful is straightforward and less scary than imagined. The difference here is you are not alone.
